Come Summer Play

AT BLACK LAKE

Opens Saturday. Five performances.

Happy Summer Every Body,

If you are NYC-bound rather than in some exotic (or not -- is it cool there?) other-place, here's a swimming-hole of a diversion: Dea Loher's At Black Lake. Have dipped the toe in to these murky, spine-tingle-(it's under there)-inducing waters these past few weeks and it's not what you might call fine, but come on in for a swim to the relief-rafts of a relentless cast (including frequent collaborator April Sweeney), a lithe, musical translation by our friend across the way, Daniel Brunet and marvelous design by Krista Smith who has made the Void out of thin air.

THE BLURB:
It’s been four years since that night. Else and Johnny reunite with Cleo and Eddie at Black Lake. But when innocent assumptions become scalding questions, and every recollection a wounding taunt that promises a hidden clue, they wrestle with just how little they know about their children. Acclaimed German playwright Dea Loher weaves an eerie tale of uncertainty and distortion through small gestures of everyday life, the cost of relationships and the variability of memory.
